One of the senior monks from Abhayagiri will give a 7:00pm Dhamma talk followed by Q&A at Three Jewels Dharma Hall in Fort Bragg, CA.

Sāmaṇera Khemako and Sāmaṇera Pesalo have both requested the higher ordination to the status of fully-ordained bhikkhus.  Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held at the upper ordination platform in the early evening (4p.m.-6p.m.).

Vesakha Puja celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha.  Abhayagiri traditionally observes this day with the usual Lunar Observance Day all-night meditation vigil, and a circumambulation of the Meditation Hall, or outdoor meditation platform, weather permitting.

Meditation begins at 7:30p.m., followed by a Dhamma Talk until 9:30p.m.  A short passage will be read detailing the event, then participants receive a candle and a bouquet with flowers and incense for the circumambulation.  Traditionally we circumambulate three times, recollecting the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha respectively.  Following this, the normal Lunar Observance Day schedule will resume, with periods of sitting/walking meditation, an intermission with tea at midnight, and morning chanting at 3:00a.m.

As always feel free to come out for the meal offering and any/all of the event.  Help with both preparation and clean-up after the circumambulation is appreciated.

On the first tuesday of every month, one of the senior monks from Abhayagiri visits Berkeley Buddhist Monastery to lead a session of chanting, meditation, and to give a Dhamma talk.  The event is from 7:30-9:30pm.

We hope you can join us at Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery for the annual Upasika Renewal Day on June 17, 2012 - a day of community, Dhamma study, meditation, and renewal for the North American Upasika community. All are welcome to attend. This will be an opportunity for those who are interested to make a formal commitment to the Upasika program.

The theme of this years Upāsikā Renewal Day is yet to be announced.
The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:30 am - Refuges and Precepts
11:00 am - Meal offering (bring a dish to share)
1:00 pm - Meditation, teachings & discussion
4:30 pm - Tea with monastics
